Design Team Day!!

#39
Challenge:   Halloween
October 1 - 7th, 2013

I have a cute, adorable project for you today using the absolute ghoulish "Halloweenies" stamp set and matching dies by Paper Smooches. I recently received this wonderful surprise gift from a friend...totally unexpected and out of the blue....a Spellbinders Grand Calibur machine! I did not have anything prior with which to cut dies with and was so excited to get and play with it. Included were a bunch of extras; embossing folders galore, and a few dies.

I used one of the dies and some various colors of Orange Bazzill cardstock and cut these petal fold boxes. I glued them together and because the glue I was using just was not adhering them well I cut out strips of the Arsenic and Lace paper to go around the boxes. This also served as my station for my cute little decorations.

Next, I colored the stamped images with my brand new Spectrum-Noir alcohol markers...(stay tuned for a review and some more coloring with them)! And because this is the first time I have used the dies I stamped and colored first and then cut...later found out it should be the opposite. I found a wonderful little tip though while watching a YouTube Video...use post-it notes to hold your die and paper in place! Wow, I tried it and it worked! I then, pop dotted the image and put it on the tag or the strip.

So, here are my cute little boxes...I am going to use them as treat boxes for my 7 grandchildren. I have 3 more to make before the end of the month.

Here are the supplies I used for this project:

Bazzill Orange Cardstock: Various shades I had in my stash
Bazzill Arsenic and Lace Paper
Paper Smooches Halloweenies Stamp Set and Matching Dies
Ranger Pop Dots: Note these are some mega pop dots...if you need
to make your image really stand out these are the ones to use.
Spellbinders Grand Templates: Square Petal Top Box
Some orange ribbon from my stash: it said Trick or Treat!
Spectrum-Noir Alcohol Markers
